Community Buildings: The Oratorio at La Jara

Built of mud and stones placed in wooded forms, the building is called the Oratorio de Jesus Nazareno and is unque in its construction as well as serving as a worship site for the penitent brotherhood. It presented a highly challenging structural failure when the east corner developed a deep crack. Watson Conserves and our local partners shored up the building, carefully removed the broken material, built a movable form and repoured the corner using the original materials.
